A Passion Project:
The story of the Wheels Through Time Museum starts not with motorcycles, but with a man named Dale Walksler. A passionate collector and advocate for American motorcycle history, Dale began his journey in 1969, meticulously curating a collection of vintage bikes. With a particular fondness for early 20th-century Harley-Davidsons and Indians, Dale’s collection grew, eventually finding a home in a Harley-Davidson dealership in Illinois.
Wheels Through Time is Born:
After more than three decades of collecting, Dale decided to share his passion with the world. In 2002, the Wheels Through Time Museum opened its doors in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. This 38,000-square-foot facility now houses over 350 rare and vintage motorcycles, ranging from early 20th-century classics to more modern machines. Uniquely, many of these motorcycles are operational and can even be started and ridden!
